Teen Leadership Programs
This program provides a service learning experience for teens. Youth will learn the values of volunteerism, leadership, and teamwork through a series of teambuilding games and experiences, utilizing our ropes course for parts of this experience. Additionally they will design and implement a service learning project at Camp Arrowhead, Powder Mills Park, or the local Fish Hatchery.
Campers will have time during their three week session to help with different areas of camp programming, such as Ropes and Archery, under the guidance of the leadership staff. All participants will enjoy day camp activities including recreational swim and outdoor activities. This program serves as a transitional program for many teens between Teen Trekkers and our Counselor-In-Training program.
The CIT program provides participants with training to become Junior Counselors for the following summer. This four-week program is designed to provide a structure and atmosphere that allows participants to grow as individuals and as a community to become the best camp counselors they can be!
The first week of the program is dedicated to leadership training and learning all about Camp Arrowhead. The focus of the second week is on safety, working with children, and child-development. The third week is designed to focus on developing creative and fun programs for campers and to allow participants to put these newly learned skills into practice in program areas. The fourth week of the program is an “internship week” where CITs will put all of their knowledge and skills to the test by shadowing in units. Finally, upon a successful completion of the program, CITs will be asked to volunteer for the last two weeks of the summer.
Participants will participate in swimming, specialty areas, and various trainings at camp throughout the summer. This program provides the perfect mix of experiential learning, leadership, and fun for a memorable summer.
