Our staff finish the summer with lifelong friends, memories and skills applicable in any field of work. Meet the Director
Brad Rickman, Camp Director
Brad recently accepted the position as Camp Thunderbird Director as well as the Assistant Director of Child Care at Carlson. Prior to this position, Brad worked for the Center for Youth where he ran the afterschool programs as well as the high/low ropes course at East High School.
With a Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from SUNY Brockport and over 20 years of adventure education and camp experience, Brad looks forward to transforming Camp Thunderbird into an exciting experience for all who attend. Brad is very passionate about what children can learn from adventure and outdoor learning experiences. He is looking forward to many more years at camp.
|Kimberly Ferris-Church, Camp Director
Kim has worked for the YMCA for over 10 years. She began her full-time career with the Y at the Lewis Street YMCA as the lead universal pre-k teacher. She then moved to the Eastside YMCA Child Care Center and worked as the assistant director. In 2014, Kim became the youth development program director for the Monroe and Southwest branches. Kim is responsible for supervising Camp Thunderbird, several Before and After School Programs, universal pre-k, and child watch at the Southwest Y. Kim grew up in YMCA youth programs and attended summer camp as a child. As a former YMCA teen leader, Kim gained experience volunteering in the community. At the age of sixteen, Kim got her first job at the Lockport YMCA in the youth sports and day camp programs.
With a Master’s Degree in education from Nazareth College, Kim stresses the importance of creating a fun and safe environment for every camper. Through her many years of experience in YMCA youth programs, Kim is dedicated to providing high quality programing to the youth in our community.
|Kyle Antilla, Sports Camp Director
Coach Kyle is very passionate about sports! He has played sports his entire life and was previously at the Northwest YMCA as the sports/teen director. Before that he was a camp counselor at Camp Bay View in Webster. Kyle’s passion is evident through his instruction and he always has a smile on his face!
