Camp Cory boasts a group of extremely dedicated full-time and seasonal staff. Many of our staff members attended camp as campers and we are thrilled that over 70% of our staff return each summer. Each summer begins in June as staff members participate in a week-long staff training program. This training includes workshops on stages of child development, camper management, active games, safety procedures, and the tools to be a successful counselor. In addition to three reference checks, Camp Cory completes a rigorous criminal background check on every staff member prior to being offered employment.

Michele Rowcliffe – District Executive - Camp Programs
This will be Michele’s 16th summer leading Camp Cory. Michele, her husband Shawn (Camp Ranger), and daughter Olivia can’t think of a better lifestyle than living and working at Camp Cory. Although many amenities at camp have changed throughout Michele’s tenure, the same outstanding tradition and program that has always been Camp Cory lives strong today. Michele and her family look forward to sharing their passion for camp and all that it can offer to campers of all ages.

Pat Foster – Associate Executive Director/Camp Director
Pat has been working at Camp Cory for more than ten years, however he has been going to camp since he was 10. Formally a special education teacher during the school year, Pat has held a variety of different jobs throughout his summers at camp including counselor, village head and program director. Pat is eager to lead the 2015 staff through and safe and fun summer to ensure that every camper has an experience they won’t forget.

Sara Seeloff – Director of Administration
Sara joined the Camp Cory team the fall of 2007. She has a bachelor’s degree in Recreation and Park Administration. From June through August, Sara and her two girls Marissa (7) and Payton (3) live at camp managing the store and office. Sara processes all camp registration out of our winter office in Rochester and is excited to answer any questions you may have!

Kelly Balconi – Coordinator of Annual Giving/Alumni Development
Kelly coordinates our Annual Campaign and helps Alumni reconnect to Camp. Kelly also facilitates our camper scholarship program and holds down our Business office during the summer months. Feel free to contact Kelly to discuss a gift to Cory, a visit to Camp, how to apply for a camp scholarship, or any general camp information – she would be happy to help! Kelly joined our team in the fall of 2010. She has a great love for the outdoors, camping, and people.  She holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation and Leisure Management from SUNY College at Brockport. She resides in Irondequoit with her husband and 2 children, plus their yellow lab, Travis.

Ellen Ellison - Overnight Camp Coordinator
Ellen has been working at Cory for the past 7 summers and just began her new role in the fall of 2014. Her roles at Cory have included counselor, Waterfront Director, and Program Director. In the past, she's worked at several other YMCA camps specializing in Outdoor and Environmental Education and earned her Bachelors in Biology from Hobart and William Smith. Ellen is devoted to bettering camp programs and ensuring that the campers and CITs have the best summer of their lives.
