Programs at Bay View

Active Older Adults
At the Bay View Family Branch, seniors stay active, get involved, and gain a sense of belonging. Whether it’s joining a social club, taking a class or participating in special events like senior camping, the Bay View Y provides seniors with opportunities to meet people and try new things. Designed for individuals 55 years and older, SilverSneakers and Water Fitness classes are offered, as well as variety of activities and outings. For more information, please contact Su Metzger at 341-3207.


Aquatics
Aquatics programs at the Bay View Family Branch include parent-child, preschool and Active Older Adult classes along with swimming lessons for all ages and abilities. The Bay View Y also offers a youth competitive swim team program as well as lifeguard, swim instructor, First Aid and CPR training. For more information, please contact Anne Hossenlopp at 341-3218.

Birthday Parties
Celebrate your child’s birthday at the Bay View Family YMCA! Sit back and relax as your child enjoys a memorable birthday celebration led by our trained party staff. Child Care
The Bay View YMCA offers child care programs for ages 2 and up, including preschool, nursery school, and before and after school care for grades K-5. Trained staff will supervise children in activities including arts & crafts, structured play, homework, and snack time. Family Time
The Bay View Family YMCA is focusing on families with children ranging from infants to teens by featuring programming for every member of the family to enjoy. Special attention is being given to providing members with a full range of activities on weekends. The following program options and activity areas allow families to participate together or independently while at the YMCA: 
 
Child Watch: (ages 6 weeks - 5 years) Our Child Care staff will care for your infants and toddlers while you are using our facility. Infant care is limited. 
Prime Time Kids: (ages 5 -12) Prime Time gives your children more independence and freedom to let them choose what activities they participate in.
Family Nights: Bring your family and participate in various family activities, crafts, games, movie nights and more! 
Parents Night Out: Enjoy a night out on the town while we take care of dinner and your kids!

Health, Well-Being & Fitness
Whether you are new to health and fitness or have been active your entire life, the Y can help you move toward a healthier, happier and more balanced life. At the Bay View Y, you can examine nutrition, weight management, stress reduction, the role of community support and more. Our certified coaches and instructors can help you identify what's most important to you and how to achieve success.
 
Health, Well-Being & Fitness programs at the Bay View Family YMCA are geared toward all ages and all levels of activity including Youth, Teens, Adults, Seniors and Families. Programs include Wellness Programs, Group Exercise and Nutrition Counseling. We also have specialized staff members available to help you achieve your fitness goals, such as Personal Trainers. Sports

Preschool Sports (ages 4-5)
We are committed to providing a fun, educational first sports experience for your child. Our Iddy Biddy Sports Program introduces children to games, rules, and fundamental skills of sports such as soccer, basketball and floor hockey. Our program also concentrates on teaching sportsmanship, positive competition and building positive relationships between participants. Fall Preschool Instructional Classes
The Bay View Y provides sports classes that will help your child be successful both on and off the field. In our classes, children work on individual skill development, learn how to work as a team and are introduced to sport-specific team strategies. Youth Sports
Bay View Youth Sports classes and leagues that will help your child be successful both on and off the field. In our leagues children will work on individual skill development, team oriented play, positive competition, and team strategy. The environment we provide fosters the children’s comprehension of sportsmanship, the benefits of active play, and the YMCA core values. Youth Sports are also a great option for volunteering! Karate
We offer a progressive program of skill instruction for all ages from beginner through advanced in traditional Shotokan karate. The classes and frequent special events provide a family-friendly environment where many friendships have been made during the 17 years this program has been running. Over twenty YMCA members who started as raw beginners at Bay View have earned their black belts at the branch, and many have continued to higher degrees and now teach our classes. Look into Bay View Karate and learn whether our youth or teen/adult classes might be right for yourself or someone in your family.

Summer Camp
Set on 35 spectacular acres with a secluded waterfront on Irondequoit Bay, Camp Bay View provides campers ages 3-15 with a well-balanced program. Campers will experience a dynamic program each day including swimming, sports, adventure and creative/performing arts. We also offer specialty Sports Camps and Bayfront Adventure Camp for campers looking to focus on specific skills. Please click here to learn more!

Teens

Leaders Club: A program designed to provide teens ages 13 and older with the opportunity to engage in Y volunteer service projects. The majority of this program is designed by the teens; they develop their own volunteer opportunities at the Y and in the local community. Leaders Club also includes fundraising events to help sponsor group field trips, parties, and travel costs to Teen Leaders Rallies across the Northeastern United States.. 
 
Jr. Leaders Club: A club for 10-12-year-olds who want to experience something new, fun and positive. Participate in teambuilding skills and learn about yourself. Also great for those who want to join the Leaders Club in the future. 
 
Teen Nights: 13-17 year olds will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of activities supervised by YMCA staff while meeting new friends. Come swim, play basketball, volleyball, games or just socialize and grab a snack at the Y.
 
Teen Basketball: Pick-up games for 13-19 year olds. Members only.

Youth Nights
Parents enjoy a night out while your kids rule the Y (with a little help from our staff)! They will be able to choose from swimming, playing Wii or Kinect in the Epicenter, get creative with arts and crafts, or keep their feet moving with sports in the gym.
