Active Older Adults
At the Carlson MetroCenter Branch, seniors stay active, get involved, and gain a sense of belonging. Whether it’s joining a social club, taking a class, engaging in a fitness training program or participating in special events like senior camping, the Carlson MetroCenter Y provides seniors with opportunities to meet people and try new things. Aquatics programs at the Carlson MetroCenter Branch include parent-child, preschool, and Active Older Adult classes along with swimming lessons for all ages and abilities. Celebrate your child’s birthday at the Carlson MetroCenter YMCA! Sit back and relax as your child enjoys a memorable birthday celebration led by our trained party staff. Held on Saturday & Sunday afternoons, parties are designed for the birthday party child and 10 guests and include time in the kids’ gym, ¼ sheet cake, pizza and ice cream. Licensed Child Care
The Carlson MetroCenter Child Care Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). Our center offers a variety of full-time programs, which serve children ages 6 weeks to 4 years. Each program offers enriching activities in a fun environment with caring and professional staff. Programs include: Infant Care, Toddlers, Preschool, Universal Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten Readiness, and Before and After School Programs (BASP). Health, Well-Being, & Fitness Training Programs
Whether you are new to health and fitness or have been active your entire life, the Y can help you move toward a healthier, happier and more balanced life. In our athletic club, you can examine nutrition, weight management, personal fitness, stress reduction, the role of community support and more. Our certified coaches, instructors and personal trainers can help you identify what's most important to you and how to achieve success.
Health, Well-Being and Fitness programs at the Carlson YMCA are geared toward all ages and all levels of activity including Youth, Teens, Adults, Seniors (senior-specific Personal Training available) and Families. Programs include Wellness Programs, Group Exercise and Nutrition Counseling. We also have specialized staff members and programs available to help you achieve your fitness goals, such as Personal Trainers and our Power and Performance program. Whatever your fitness goals are, the Carlson Y is here to support you every step of the way!
Group Exercise Class Orientations:
come to a 30 minute overview of the Group Exercise Classes offered at the Carlson MetroCenter YMCA. In this one-on-one session you'll learn what each class has to offer and what classes may work best to help you meet your personal fitness goals, abilities and interests. Attendees will also have an opportunity to ask questions and find out what classes may go with each other and with other workout routines. One-on-one personal training programs are administered by a certified staff of fitness professionals who share the YMCA's philosophy of total body fitness. We will design a program and motivate you to reach your personal fitness goals. All programs include a complete fitness profile that measures your cardiovascular fitness level, muscular strength, percent body fat and flexibility. Registration required.

Men's & Women’s Racquetball
Leagues are held on Tuesday and Thursday.
Carlson's four racquetball courts can also be used to play handball. Handball is a competitive game similar to racquetball in which either hand or either fist may be used to hit the ball.
Adult Pick-Up Basketball
Teams will be divided as players arrive and all games are recreational.
Adult Pick-Up Volleyball
Friday 7:00 - 8:30pm in racquetball court 4.
Pickleball is a combination of tennis and badminton. It is played by hitting whiffle balls with light-weight wooden paddles. Played on a badminton court with 3-foot high net, pickleball can be played in singles and doubles.
Masters Basketball (50 and up)
Youth basketball is designed to engage children in pre-competitive instructional games and programs that teach the basics of basketball.
Flag Football League
Challenge yourself in a more advanced, safe, high level, and fun environment.
Track and Field
This class helps children develop fundamental skills and incorporate teamwork through instructional play.
Iddy Biddy Sports Sampler
The YMCA of Greater Rochester is committed to providing a fun, educational, first sports experience for your child. Our Iddy Biddy Sports program introduces children to the games, rules, and fundamental skills of basketball, and soccer.
operates out of the Genesee Valley Park offering fields, trails, a swimming pool, and a playground. We serve children starting in kindergarten through grade 6. Exciting weekly field trips make the summer experience memorable for campers. The Carlson MetroCenter Y also offers summer leadership programs for pre-teens and teens ages 9 through 15.
