Active Older Adults

At the Northwest Family Branch, seniors stay active, get involved, and gain a sense of belonging. Whether it’s joining a social club, taking a class or participating in special events like senior camping, the Northwest Y provides seniors with opportunities to meet people and try new things. Designed for individuals 55 years and older, SilverSneakers and Water Fitness classes are offered, as well as variety of activities and outings. For more information, please refer to the Session Handbook or contact Mary Ellen VanAuker at 723-3023. Aquatics

Aquatics programs at the Northwest Family Branch include parent-child, preschool and Active Older Adult classes along with swimming lessons for all ages and abilities. The Northwest Y also offers a youth competitive swim team program as well as lifeguard, swim instructor, First Aid and CPR training. For more information, contact Jim Ryan at 723-5467. 


Birthday Parties

Schedule your party at the Northwest Family YMCA or Camp Northpoint (seasonal) and we will provide an event that your child will be sure to remember. All party packages are designed for the birthday child and 12 guests. Birthday party packages will vary to include: a party hostess, juice & table settings, balloons and decorated quarter sheet cake. Parties can be booked for any Friday evening, Saturday or Sunday afternoon and can accommodate additional youth guests for $10.00 each. Nursery School (Ages 2-5)

Child Care
 
The Northwest Family YMCA offers a licensed before and after school program within the Greece and Hilton School Districts. The School Age program reinforces positive values in a caring atmosphere. Fun Clubs are offered during days off from school for Greece and Hilton. We also offer an Emergency Fun Club for Greece and Hilton Schools closed for snow days.

Family Time
 
The Northwest Family YMCA is focusing on families with children ranging from infants to teens by featuring programming for every member of the family to enjoy. Special attention is being given to providing members with a full range of activities on weekends. The following program options and activity areas allow families to participate together or independently while at the YMCA: 
 
Prime Time Kids: (ages 5 -12) Prime Time gives your children more independence and freedom to let them choose what activities they participate in. 
Friday Nights: Fridays between 6:30-8:00 pm, a different activity each week. Weekly activities may include craft, land inflatable, bingo, Family Zumba and much more!
Family Fitness: Growing up fit as a family develops healthy family lifestyles. Our Gulick Gym promotes families with children ages 7 and up to have fun while working out together in a safe, fun environment.
Family Open Gym/Open Swim: Time is set aside just for families to play in the gym or to swim in the pool.

Health, Well-Being and Fitness

At the Northwest Y, you can examine nutrition, weight management, stress reduction, the role of community support and more. Our certified coaches and instructors can help you identify what's most important to you and how to achieve success.
 
Health, Well-Being and Fitness programs at the Northwest Family YMCA are geared toward all ages and all levels of activity including Youth, Teens, Adults, Seniors and Families. Programs include Wellness Programs, Group Exercise and Nutrition Counseling. We also have specialized staff members available to help you achieve your fitness goals, such as Personal Trainers. Sports
 
Iddy Biddy Sports (ages 3-5)
The Northwest Y is committed to providing a fun, educational first sports experience for your child. Our Iddy Biddy Sports program introduces children to the games, rules and fundamental skills of sports such as soccer, basketball and floor hockey.
 
Youth Sports (ages 6-12)
In our classes and leagues, children will work on individual skill development, will learn how to work as a team and will be introduced to sport specific team strategies. We will provide an environment in which our athletes learn and understand the importance of positive competition, sportsmanship and healthy lifestyle choices.
 
Leagues/Clinics
Our leagues will enable your child to experience individual skill development, teamwork and will be introduced to various sport strategies. Values such as sportsmanship, positive competition and socialization will be incorporated in game play. Your child will learn Y core values - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Through our leagues and classes, children will develop self confidence on and off the field while learning and having fun.

Gymnastics
 
Children will work with coaches to teach children basic gymnastics skills. Children will work on all apparatus (bars, beam, springboard & floor mats). Teens

Teen Time: ​This after school care program is designed for students in grades 6-8, Monday-Friday from 2:30-6:30pm.  Activities include: free time, homework, activity period (sports, team building, cooking, swimming, Gulick Gym and specialty classes).

Leaders Club: It’s mission is to develop a sense of social responsibility through volunteerism within the Y and in the outside community. We will work on personal growth, team building and the development of individual leadership qualities. This club will promote character development by stressing values such as caring, respect, responsibility, honesty and at the same time offer fun times and opportunities for new friendships. 

Jr. Teen Nights: The Teen City Northwest will be open to 2nd -6th graders on the first Saturday night of each month: 7:00 -9:30pm. Activities include open inflatables, swimming, Teen City, gym activities, dancing with DJ. Refreshments will be sold.

Teen Break Club: (6th-8th Graders) What a great way for teens to spend their days when school is not in session. Activities include use of Teen City, Gym Games, team building activities the Gulick Gym and swimming. There must be at least 8 teens registered for this program to run this program.
