Rochester area YMCA's will kick off its Kids Marathon with a kick-off party June 7 at the Bay View YMCA, located at 1209 Bay Road, in Webster.

Children, ages 5 to 12, are welcome to participate. They will run the first mile with friends and family at the kick-off party, which includes food, a rock wall, swimming and dancing. During the next five weeks, kids will complete the first 25 miles.

The event will be completed on the honor system. When a child completes part of the race, a parent signs their race card.

The final 1.2 miles will be completed on Race Day, July 12. Runners will run down a spectator-lined road before the Webster Firemen's Carnival.
