YMCA Outdoor Classes

Variety of Group Exercise Classes to Take Place Outside of YMCA locations

So many of our members enjoyed being able to take some of their favorite Group Exercise Classes outdoors last summer. We’re excited to offer them once again where we are able to.

What to Expect

Schedules will be posted where you normally find our group exercise schedule. You can also find them here and at the bottom of this page.

Classes will be marked as “outdoor” on your branch’s schedule. The room will be listed as the outdoor location AND the indoor location. Please see example below.¬†Any outdoor class that cannot be held outside due to weather will be moved inside and take place in its regular location. It will not be cancelled due to weather.

Classes will use little to no equipment. For some, such as Group Cycle, we will provide the equipment; but for classes, such as yoga/Pilates, members are required to bring their own mats, towels, water bottles etc. All classes will take place completely outside on YMCA property.

Signing Up

All outdoor classes require prior registration. You can login, create and account and register for class in the “Outdoor Schedule” section at the bottom of this page or through any branches schedule on our website our app.

If you haven’t already created an account¬†learn how to create an account and register for classes here.

Attendance will be taken at each class when you arrive. If you cannot make it to your scheduled time please cancel your reservation. You can also learn how to cancel a class here.

Safety Measures

We will be taking our safety guidelines from the CDC and New York State. Before even coming to class, all members will be required to participate in the Y ROC Health Scan. If a member does not complete this, they will have their temperatures taken and answer health screening questions.

Any individual who displays any symptom of an illness will not be allowed to participate in class.

Effective May 24, in accordance with government guidelines:

  • Masks are optional if you are fully vaccinated.
  • Unvaccinated members 12+ must wear a mask.
  • Masks are required for children ages 2 to 11 due to their ineligibility for the vaccine.
  • We ask you to demonstrate the YMCA Core Values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility toward each other and our staff as proof of vaccination status is not required.

Measures are being taken to accommodate social distancing. Class sizes will be limited and kept at a safe number based on physical space and registration. Spots for certain classes will be marked on the ground (when appropriate).
