Shallow Water Lifeguard Training

SHALLOW WATER LIFEGUARD TRAINING

December 21: 8 am-4 pm
December 22: 8 am-4 pm

Learn the necessary skills to become a lifeguard! This includes in-water rescue skills, as well as First Aid and CPR. This is a blended learning course where the in-person formal lecture is replaced by online classes, which are  to be completed prior to the start of in person class sessions. The online classes add up to roughly 7 hours total.

Prerequisites include:

  • 100 yard swim utilizing a mix of front crawl and breaststroke
  • Tread water for 2 minutes without using hands
  • A Brick Test: Participant will sprint 20 yards and surface dive to a depth of 4-5 feet recovering a 10 lb brick, that can be carried either by walking or swimming back to the start. The test must be completed under 50 seconds.

DETAILS:

Participants must be age 15+
Successful participants will be certified as lifeguards for pools up to 5 feet deep.
