Take your passions to a new level as the Eastside Family YMCA and Rochester Institute of Technology team up to provide a new technology-based education program. Tech Tuesdays and Thursdays is a way for high school students to learn more about the ever-changing world of technology.
All classes are 3:30-4:30 pm
Design an app from the ground up. In this low-tech look at a high-tech field, you will explore the five steps Human-Computer Interaction professionals at massive technology companies go through to deliver top of the line applications by creating low-fi prototypes of a mobile application. No previous experience is needed.
All required materials will be provided.
We will be using current technology such as HTML and CSS to create a unique web page. No coding experience is required because we will take you step-by-step through the process of making your web page.
Laptops will be loaned to participants for the duration of the class.
Learn how science and engineering combine with imaging technologies used in the motion picture industry to create powerful experiences for people to enjoy on the big and small screens.
New Media Design is at the intersection of visual communication, design strategy, technology sciences and user experience. This session will show you how to combine a passion for design, graphics, programming and more to become a skilled designer.
We believe it’s more fun to make than play. Many ideas for a digital game begin with a pencil and paper. With a team, you will be challenged to conceptualize, design, and create a prototype of a board game-and share it with others. This abbreviated experience mirrors a classroom exercise in the game design and development curriculum.
No technology needed – all required materials will be provided.
Classes are free, but registration is required.
