STAFF AND CAREERS

Blake has been working at Camp Cory since 2007 in various roles: Specialist, Village Head, Leadership Director, Day Camp Director, and Program Director. She was working full-time for the YMCA previously in the Before and After School Department and running the Youth and Government Teen Program. She is dedicated to providing high-quality programs and experiences to all of our campers. Blake has her BA in English and Secondary Education from SUNY Geneseo as well as a Masters in Curriculum Development from the University of Michigan. When they are not at camp, Blake lives in Canandaigua with her husband Joshua and their dogs Anubis, Harper and Blanche.

Kiara previously worked at the Y at Watson Woods for 5 years in various roles ranging from camp counselor, art specialist, unit head, and camp coordinator. She is a recent graduate from SUNY ESF where she earned her BS in Environmental Studies with a focus in Policy, Planning, and Law. Kiara is dedicated to bringing energy to the camp season and making it memorable for all campers, while helping kids spend their summers outside exploring, learning, and having fun in nature. She has a cat named Alaska and a bunny named Charlie.

Sydney attended Camp Cory as a camper starting in 2007. After completing the CIT program in 2011, she continued at Camp in various roles like Craig Village Head and Staffing Director. You may have also seen her at other Y branches like Bay View, Eastside or Schottland during the off seasons. As Operations Manager, Sydney is here to help families with the enrollment process and to answer any and all questions that you may have about camp. Sydney holds a Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies from St. John Fisher College. When not at camp, Sydney lives in Irondequoit with her partner James and their dogs Luna and Shelby.

  Jake has been involved with camps through his experience in Scouting and as a counselor for NYSSA Camp Iroquois. He has a degree in Conservation Biology from SUNY ESF and has priorly served as a wildlife habitat manager and farm manager for state and federal agencies. Jake works to maintain the camps’ buildings and grounds to provide a memorable and safe environment for campers to recreate in. Jake and his wife Maggie live on site at Camp Cory with their two daughters, Eliza and Maeve.
