MEET THE FULL TIME LEADERSHIP TEAM

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR: PAT FOSTER

Pat has been working at Camp Cory for more than ten years, however he has been going to camp since he was 10. He has an extensive background working with kids, holding a variety of different roles during his time at camp and being a former Special Education Teacher. Pat holds a Master's Degree in Special Education from Lesley University, in addition to his Bachelor's from Nazareth College. He and his wife, Nicole, live in Fairport with their children Brooklyn and Teddy.

CAMP DIRECTOR: BLAKE VAN HORN

Blake has been working at Camp Cory since 2007 in various roles: Specialist, Village Head, Leadership Director, Day Camp Director, and Program Director. She was working full-time for the YMCA previously in the Before and After School Department and running the Youth and Government Teen Program. She is dedicated to providing high-quality programs and experiences to all of our campers. Blake has her BA in English and Secondary Education from SUNY Geneseo as well as a Masters in Curriculum Development from the University of Michigan. When they are not at camp, Blake lives in Canandaigua with her husband Joshua and their dogs Anubis, Harper and Blanche.

CAMP RANGER: FREDDY STEIN

Freddy first became involved with the YMCA when he attended Camp Cory as a young camper in 2004. While new to Camp Cory, Freddy has worked for almost a decade at summer camps starting as counselor in 2011. Over these summers, Freddy held many roles and became a full-time Ranger at Camp Babcock-Hovey. Freddy’s focus at camp will be on maintaining and improving the facilities. Freddy earned his Bachelor’s in History and Inclusive Adolescent Education from Nazareth College; he also holds a degree from MCC. Freddy is excited to be moving to camp with his fiancé Paul, dog Zeus, and cat Ghost.

DIRECTOR OF ADMINISTRATION: SYDNEY BARRETTE

Sydney attended Camp Cory as a camper starting in 2007. After completing the CIT program in 2011, she continued at Camp in various roles like Craig Village Head and Staffing Director. You may have also seen her at other Y branches like Bay View, Eastside or Schottland during the off seasons. As Director of Administration, Sydney is here to help families with the enrollment process and to answer any and all questions that you may have about camp. Sydney holds a Bachelor’s Degree in American Studies from St. John Fisher College. Sydney is most excited that her dog, Winnie, will now be a camp dog!

PROGRAM DIRECTOR: MIKENNA DONZE

Mikenna has been working with Camp Cory since the summer of 2018, after completing her degree in Outdoor Recreation & Education. You may also have seen Mikenna working with the BASP program and at Schottland, before becoming full-time with Cory. Before moving to Rochester, Mikenna grew up and worked at a small Y camp in Ohio called Camp Tippecanoe as well as being very involved in her home Y branch! As the Program Director, Mikenna is excited to better our program opportunities as well as bring new faces and ideas to Camp Cory. Come summertime, she will still be our Day Camp Director and is looking forward to bringing her dog Bonzo to camp this summer to meet everyone!

Day Camp Counselors

Counselors who supervise our Day Campers, who may or may not live at camp.

Overnight Camp Counselors

Staff members who live in the cabins while supervising campers.

Program Area Specialists

Staff who run our program areas, making sure that campers learn and achieve goals.

Support Staff

Staff who support the camp experience through care of the property or serving in out infirmary or kitchen.

Village Heads

Staff who oversee counselors and junior counselors in their village and ensure quality camp experience for the campers.

2023 Staffing Information:

Summer 2023 Pay Rates:

  • Junior Counselors: $290 per week
  • Senior Counselors: $305 per week
  • Specialists: $340-$360 per week
  • Support Staff: $380 per week
  • Central Staff: $440-$480 per week

Preseason Dates:

  • Central Staff Week: June 11-16
  • Staff Week: June 16-22
