Basketball was invented at the YMCA more than 130 years ago with a simple idea: use sport to bring people together through movement, teamwork and healthy competition. The YMCA of Greater Rochester is proud and excited to bring one of the sport’s best community events – the Gus Macker Tournament – back to the Flower City in 2026 at Innovative Field, home to the Rochester Red Wings!

The City of Rochester is known for their innovation – the birthplace of Kodak, Xerox and others – their history – home to Frederick Douglass and Susan B. Anthony – and their sense of culture and community. With Lake Ontario shoreline, and the Finger Lakes a short drive, Rochester and the surrounding areas boast trails, parks and waterfront access for family fun.

The Macker in Rochester will also be at the culmination of one of the city’s summertime favorites – the Rochester International Jazz Festival, which brings in talents from across the globe with free entertainment in the heart of downtown for all to enjoy.

We are looking forward to bringing families and youth together, on the court to compete, connect and belong.
