Whether you are looking for a great summer job or career as a professional lifeguard, the YMCA of Greater Rochester’s Lifeguard program and certifications is the place to begin! Through classroom activities, group discussion, online e-learning, and hands-on practice, you’ll learn the skills you need to work as a lifeguard and more.
Our comprehensive Lifeguard Training course includes accident prevention, lifeguarding techniques, emergency systems, and rescue skills. Course will also include CPR for the professional Rescuer with AED, Emergency Oxygen Administration and First Aid.
Learn the skills necessary to perform CPR and use an AED unit. Students will be certified by the American Health and Safety Institute with successful completion of the course. A written exam is required to complete the course.
Participants learn basic first aid skills for recognizing life threatening conditions and sudden illnesses and treating a variety of injuries such as burns, wounds, muscle, bone and joint injuries, and heat and cold emergencies.
EMERGENCY OXYGEN ADMINISTRATION
The Administering Emergency Oxygen course gives participants the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care to a victim of a breathing emergency using breathing devices, including resuscitation masks, bag-valve-mask resuscitators (BVMs) and emergency oxygen.
