MAKE AN IMPACT

“When we retired, we were fortunate to have health plans that covered our Y membership fees. We wondered what we might do to assist other members of the community so they could also enjoy the benefits of a membership. We began supporting this effort with a monthly donation that we continue to this day.”

– Larry and Linda Muir, Monthly IMPACT Donors

STRONGER TOGETHER

“I got involved with the Y through the Indian Guide program back in 1985, looking for a way to spend more time with my son. That experience brought so much joy to our whole family and changed the way we connected with each other. I believe that our donations help families grow together and have a happier family, as it did for my own.”

– Bill and Tricia Sauers, Triangle Society donors

GIVE BACK

“Nearly 30 years ago, I walked through the doors of the Y needing help, and they welcomed me with open arms and financial assistance so my children could be part of something positive. Then, I worked there. I listened. I coached. I offered hope to people who felt like they couldn’t make it. I got to be more than a staff member; I got to be part of someone’s healing. That wasn’t just a job. It was a calling. They helped me when I needed it most, and when the time came, I got to give back.”

– Carol Kamacho, Former YMCA Team Member and Former Scholarship Recipient

WHY GIVE?

With your help, we can expand access to the resources, opportunities and relationships that everyone in our community needs to flourish. Because when we invest in our community, we create a stronger future for all.

ANNUAL CAMPAIGN

The Annual Campaign helps make sure more stories are created every day. More stories of lives changed, because at the Y, families, older adults and children can find their place. A place with all the ingredients for a vibrant life.

Together, we create more. More possibilities, more connections, more life-changing moments. Because when we invest in our community, we create a stronger future for all.

CREATE MORE. OPEN DOORS. TRANSFORM LIVES.

CHAIR’S ROUNDTABLE

At the Y, through the Chair’s Roundtable, we recognize donors who have powered our youth and family programs by making annual contributions to the Y of $1,000 or more. These individuals, businesses, and other community organizations enable us to enrich and expand our mission of working with our community, and to remain on the cutting edge in meeting human service needs.

Your support makes it possible for families and individuals, regardless of their inability to pay, to participate in the programs and services that we offer through the Y, giving them the opportunity to create their own Y stories.

Being a member of the Chair’s Roundtable is easy. Contributions totaling $1,000 or more to the YMCA of Greater Rochester by December 31 provide you with an invitation to this unique group of donors. You may give all at once, monthly, or weekly to reach your total annual gift.

Members of the YMCA Chair’s Roundtable are recognized for their generous support at the following levels:

  • Platinum: $10,000 and Over
  • Gold: $5,000 – $9,999
  • Silver: $2,500-$4,999
  • Bronze: $1,500 – $2,499
  • Member: $1,000 – $1,499

Please contact Andy Powers for more information on becoming a Chair’s Roundtable member.

GEORGE WILLIAMS SOCIETY

Named after the founder of the YMCA movement, the George Williams Society honors those individuals and families who include the YMCA of Greater Rochester in their estate plans and donors that have given $25,000 or greater to the endowment.

Planned gifts ensure the YMCA’s programs and services continue to benefit the Rochester community for generations to come. There is no minimum gift amount required for planned gift membership. Members of the Society are recognized in print materials, provided updates and communication that we don’t share with everyone else throughout the year, and invitations to special events.

Please contact Andy Powers for more information on joining the George Williams Society.

1854 SOCIETY

The 1854 Society celebrates Y supporters whose lifetime giving has reached $100,000 or more, an extraordinary demonstration of belief in our mission and a pledge to the Greater Rochester community.

Members of the 1854 Society help ensure access to life-changing Y programs today and for generations to come.
Each year, we recognize their generosity at special gatherings where members connect, hear updates on our impact, and celebrate how their commitment transforms lives.

ONE-TIME GIFTS
  • One-time gifts are the most common type of gift from donors. Your gift to the YMCA powers our programs and services and creates action for the betterment of our community.
  • A one-time gift can be given in a fiscal donation or appreciated assets, like a gift of stocks or mutual funds.
  • We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and depending on your circumstances, your gift may be tax-deductible. And we make sure that 100% of your contribution stays in your community, right here powering your own neighborhood.

MATCHING GIFTS

Many corporations match employee gifts as part of their philanthropic efforts. Please ask your HR department if your company offers a matching gift program. Your donation could be doubled or even tripled.

If you volunteer with us, your employer may also provide us with a grant as a way to recognize your ongoing support.

STOCKS AND OTHER SECURITIES

When you gift stocks and other securities directly to the Y, you make an outsized impact without taking money directly out of your bank account. Plus, neither you nor the Y will be taxed on the gains for appreciated assets you donate.

Meet your giving goals, enjoy potential tax benefits, and contribute to the change you want to see. Learn more about the benefits of gifting securities and donate stock today.

RETIREMENT ACCOUNT

A Special Opportunity for Those 70½ Years Old and Older: You can give any amount (up to a maximum of $100,000) per year from your IRA directly to a qualified charity such as the YMCA of Greater Rochester without having to pay income taxes on the money.

Gifts of any value of $100,000 or less are eligible for this benefit, and you can feel good knowing that you are making a difference at the Y.

This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover, but you may also see it referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short.

You pay no income taxes on the gift. The transfer generates neither taxable income nor a tax deduction, so you benefit even if you do not itemize your deductions.

Since the gift doesn’t count as income, it can reduce your annual income level. This may help lower your Medicare premiums and decrease the amount of Social Security that is subject to tax.

Please contact Andy Powers for more information on making a gift through your retirement account. To learn more about IRA charitable rollovers/QCDs, please review these resources.

DONOR-ADVISED FUNDS

A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a simple, flexible way to support the Y and maximize your charitable impact. You can recommend a grant to the YMCA of Greater Rochester directly through your DAF by visiting this link. For additional information, please contact Andy Powers.

PLANNED GIFT

A gift in your will or trust is a simple, meaningful way to support the Y’s mission for generations to come. Through our partnership with FreeWill, it's easy to get started and create your will or trust at no cost to you. To learn more, contact Andy Powers.
