WHY I GIVE

Paul grew up in the Maplewood neighborhood where he went to the local Y branch with his family. He took swimming lessons, learned gymnastics and attended summer camp with the other kids in his neighborhood. With everything that Paul was learning and doing at the Y, he had no idea that his family was receiving scholarship support.
As an adult, Paul brought his financial expertise to the YMCA Board during a period of expansion. A brand-new branch being built in his community brought the Y’s impact into focus—and with it, the opportunity to give back. As his commitment grew, Paul made a multi-year pledge through the Triangle Society and a legacy gift through the George Williams Society.
“That decision wasn’t about recognition. The YMCA invested in me long before I understood what it meant. My legacy gift is simply ensuring that the same opportunity–the same welcome, the same dignity, the same sense of connection–exists long after I am gone.”
Legacy giving makes the greatest impact by promising generations of families that the Y will always be accessible and dependable for years to come. See how you can leave a legacy.
IN THEIR OWN WORDS
While her daughter is in child watch, Cece Jones trains to be a victorious Lumberjill at the Sands Family YMCA!
“It’s such a great opportunity for families”, Cece mentions about her daughter having fun and socializing with other children while she gets time to herself. Cece also highlights the platform the Y offers to women, noting that they want to show their daughters and sons that women are strong.
Incredible generosity to the YMCA's Annual Campaign makes it possible for more families to come to the Y where their children will be cared for and where adults can focus on their health and wellbeing. See how women like Cece are supported at the Y!
YOUR GIFTS AT WORK
Lea Werner has been legally blind since birth. When she had to retire early, she became an athlete. Playing adaptive baseball, gold ball and riding tandem bikes, Lea is as active as ever. To be more competitive, Lea trains at the Maplewood Family YMCA. With the help of a trusted staff member, Becky, Lea has become both faster and stronger running on the treadmill.
