Staff who are arriving internationally need to arrive at least one day before their contracted start date. You will be expected to work on your start date so will need to arrive before then. Your arrival date should ideally be a day or two before your contracted start date to give you time to rest and acclimate to any time change before you start working. There are multiple contracted start dates for International staff, but the majority have a start date of:

  • May 19
  • May 27
  • June 6
  • June 14
  • June 16

Please note that during preseason, everyone at Camp Cory, including full-time staff, typically has a day off on Thursday or Friday. Therefore, there will be some dates on which we cannot do pick-ups, so please plan accordingly. The dates we are unable to do pick-ups for the 2025 season are May 22, May 29, June 5, June 13, and June 19. 

If you are having difficulty arranging your travel plans to arrive at the appropriate time/date, please contact Camp Director Blake Van Horn and we will work it out together!

Arrival:

When arriving, you will most likely arrive in one of the New York City Airports: JFK, LaGuardia, or Newark. You have two different options when traveling from these airports to camp. The first is to have a connecting flight to Rochester International Airport (ROC), which will take you approximately 60 minutes. The second is to take a bus to Geneva, NY, which will take you approximately 7 hours, but will be a cheaper option than flying.

If you take the bus to Geneva, we will pick you up whenever you arrive. If you fly to the ROC airport, we will do one pick up at the end of the day no later than 7pm. In limited cases you also have the option to take the train to Rochester (Louise Slaughter Station), but you must discuss it with the Camp Director beforehand. You may NOT travel to or from the Rochester Bus Station as there is no shelter and is not in a safe part of town. If you arrive outside of the days/times we have scheduled for pickup, you are responsible for your own transportation unless previously arranged with the Camp Director.

Departure:

Please schedule your departure for the day after your contracted end date. Camp Cory can provide transportation to the Geneva Bus Station at any time. If you choose to fly from the Rochester International Airport, please schedule your flight no earlier than 9am. Please note if your flight is scheduled for late at night, we can still bring you to the airport, though it may be significantly earlier than your flight. If you schedule your departure for a time outside the times listed above or to any other airport/bus station than the two listed above, you are responsible for making your own transportation arrangements.
