Leadership & Development Program

We Are Looking for People Who Lead. Young Men Thriving and Young Women Thriving is a 10-month leadership program for 25 young men and women ages 10–16. We are seeking committed, responsible and inspiring volunteers to be a consistent, positive presence in the lives of young men and women in our community.

Make Real Impact: Young men and women with mentors are more likely to graduate, pursue higher education and step into leadership.

ABOUT THE PROGRAM | MENTOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Snapshot:
• 25 youth participants, ages 10–16 yrs in Rochester, NY
• Select Saturdays, September 2026–June 2027
• 16 sessions + Retreat + Out of Town Field Trips
• Quarterly stipends for all participants ($150)
 

As a mentor, you will:
• Support & reinforce workshop activities for 8 of 16 sessions
• Participate in 2 youth development activities or events per month
• Receive a quarterly calendar of all scheduled activities and events
• Attend and supervise field trips and service projects with mentees
• Serve as a positive role model upholding YMCA standards of character and integrity

Important Notes:
• All volunteers must pass a criminal
background check — conducted and paid for by the YMCA.
• Failure to adhere to YMCA character and conduct standards will result in immediate
dismissal.
• 21+ years old and orientation is required
