Rochester, NY – The YMCA of Greater Rochester is proud to share that we are investing in a complete renovation of our Thurston Road YMCA Neighborhood Center, creating spaces such as an art room, technology lab, commons area, kitchen, food pantry, large studio and intentional intergenerational area for our Active Older Adults, youth, teens and families to come together.
The final day at the Thurston Road YMCA Neighborhood Center will be Friday, October 30, for a Halloween event. Construction will begin on Monday, November 2.
On Monday, November 2, all Thurston Road Community Members will be able to utilize the Bull's Head YMCA Neighborhood Center at 55 Genesee Street (located at the Bishop Kearney building). Free, covered parking with direct ground-level access to the new Center will be available.
“At the YMCA of Greater Rochester, we put community at the center of everything we do,” said George Warren, Vice President of Urban Services, YMCA of Greater Rochester. “We are excited to continue to grow our involvement in our community here in the 19th Ward, serving more kids, teens, families and Active Older Adults.”
The Bull's Head YMCA Neighborhood Center will be open 8 am-8 pm, Monday-Friday throughout the duration of construction at Thurston Road. Much of what you do daily at our current location will be available, including:
- Daily AOA fitness
- Daily AOA social activities
- Breakfast and lunch available for our AOA
- Daily out-of-school time activities for youth from 2:30-7 pm
