YMCA RECEIVES GRANT TO PROVIDE COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE

GRANT TO PROVIDE EMERGENCY FUNDING FOR THOSE IN NEED

Most everyone at some time in their life will struggle to make ends meet. Through a grant, the YMCA of Greater Rochester is stepping in to help to directly support some of the most immediate needs in our community. This grant will allow the Y to provide a one-time distribution of assistance to those in Monroe County.

WHO CAN APPLY

Monroe County residents, 18 years of age or older, can apply for community assistance to help with basic everyday life expenses and emergency needs.  Photo ID, proof of address and proof of income are necessary.

Staff of the YMCA of Greater Rochester can apply as long as the first two requirements are met. All requests are confidential.

Approval is at the discretion of the YMCA. Only completed applications with all documentation attached will be considered for assistance. Funds will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. There is one transaction per requester

If approved, payments will be made directly to the service provider, not to individual requester. Applicants must provide contact of service provider. The YMCA will work with the provider to arrange payment through check or credit card.

WHAT FUNDING CAN BE USED FOR

Funding can be used for a variety of items and reasons, including but not limited to:

  • Groceries
  • Infant Needs
  • Utilities
  • Car Repairs/Payments
  • Cell Phone/Cell Phone Bill
  • Housing Needs including
    • Rent
    • Mortgage
    • Security Deposits

Holiday assistance, such as gifts, is excluded.
