Rochester, NY – The YMCA of Greater Rochester is proud to announce the next chapter of service at The Lewis Street YMCA Neighborhood Center – Neighborhood Services, a partnership with Monroe County.

“We continue to raise the bar on what a YMCA can be and what it is for the community at our Lewis Street location,” said Ernie Lamour, President & CEO, YMCA of Greater Rochester. “This is yet another example of our commitment to work with our neighbors here, and our partners, to make sure we’re delivering our mission and are here for our community.”

For nearly three decades, the Y has been a vital part of the Marketview Heights community. In its time being there, the services the Y’s been providing continue to evolve with the needs of the community – from full-day childcare to the first Neighborhood Center, a community connector that puts people in the community in touch with the services they need through Y programming and purposeful partnerships.

In working with the Monroe County Department of Human Services’ (MCDHS) Office of Community Engagement & Partnerships (OCEP), the Y is able to host essential services – SNAP, HEAP, Mental Health, DMV – right in the neighborhoods in which people live.

“Neighborhood Services marks a new chapter in the partnership between the YMCA and Monroe County,” said County Executive Adam Bello. “This addition to the YMCA will bridge the gap for our residents, centralizing resources and increasing accessibility by offering needed services close to home. Monroe County is proud to work alongside the YMCA to help the Marketview Heights community access County programs from mental health to the DMV.”

The space is open to all Monroe County residents with programs and agencies offered on a rotating basis with varying days and times. You can find the complete calendar here.
