teens who are a part of the YMCA Leaders program across the northeast gather to play games in a new space

Painted Post, NY – The YMCA of Greater Rochester is proud to announce the opening of the new Event Center at The Y at Watson Woods.

In the nearly three years since the YMCA of Greater Rochester acquired The Y at Watson Woods, $1.75 million has been invested into creating a space the community can use in a multitude of ways. From Day Camp during the summer months, to year-round retreat opportunities for school and professional groups, seasonal events, and more, The Y at Watson Woods is growing to serve the various needs of the local community and beyond.

“Three years ago, when we opened this space, I was excited about creating somewhere that people can play, thrive, and connect,” said Brian Dana, Executive Director of The Y at Watson Woods. “This Event Center is an exciting example of what we’ve done at the YMCA to reimagine our property to serve our community.”

This next chapter of service to the community kicked off with the annual Northeast Leaders Club Winter Rally, welcoming 150+ teens from YMCAs across the northeast region. The Y at Watson Woods will be hosting the event for a weekend of leadership skill development, volunteer opportunities, and character development and more. Winter Rally places an emphasis on offering unique winter activities, making The Y at Watson Woods an ideal space for unique outdoor teambuilding activities, as well as sledding, snow tubbing, and more.

The new Event Center can host a variety of events and parties for up to 250 people. The space can be set to accommodate various activities, including pickleball courts, corn hole lanes, turf area, GaGa pit, and 2,000 giant Legos. This is a multi-season building that is heated in the winter and has the ability for walls to open in warmer summer months to let the sunshine and fresh air in.
