ROCHESTER, NY – The YMCA of Greater Rochester is proud to announce the completion of The YMCA at Innovation Square, an 11,000-square foot Wellness Center located in Center City.

“We are proud to see this YMCA branch reach its full potential to keep wellness here in the heart of downtown Rochester,” said George Warren, Vice President of Urban Services, YMCA of Greater Rochester. “It was pivotal for us to find like-minded partners, like the Gallina family, to create this space for our members who live and work in the city, and we continue to work to find new and different ways to meet the needs of our members in the City of Rochester.”

Tenants living at Innovation Square will have 24/7 access including equipment included as part of their rental agreements, with the opportunity to upgrade to a full YMCA of Greater Rochester membership to access all member benefits including, group exercise classes and EGYM. EGYM combines state-of-the-art technology and connects you to electronic equipment that adjusts to you while helping you keep a routine.

“We are thrilled to have the YMCA of Greater Rochester join our campus at Innovation Square,” said Andrew Gallina, President of Gallina Development Corporation. “The YMCA has always been a staple in our community and we’re proud to have them continue that legacy here at Innovation Square.”

First opened to YMCA members and tenants at Innovation Square in October 2022, The YMCA at Innovation Square features two group exercise studios, dedicated space for cardio and strength training, changing rooms and showers, and now street-level elevator access directly into a member welcome center.

“Over the past year, we have been able to welcome in longtime members, as well as new members and tenants from Innovation Square, here to the Y,” said Laura Kroening, Executive Director of the Maplewood Family Branch and The YMCA at Innovation Square. “With the direct, street-level elevator access and the second studio open, we are excited for the opportunity to serve even more members in the City of Rochester.”

Senator Jeremy Cooney (D-56 District) prioritized $300,000 in New York State Funding to make the street-level elevator entry possible at The YMCA at Innovation Square, with the goal to make this YMCA accessible to all in the City of Rochester. As part of the YMCA of Greater Rochester’s Urban Services Task Force, Sen. Cooney has a deep understanding of the Y’s intention to create a definitive community resource that complimented other services and programs within the City of Rochester.
